Happy birthday Pawan Sehrawat: Indian Kabaddi Team captain turns 28

Today, on July 9th, we celebrate the birthday of Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, a famous name in the world of Kabaddi. Popularly known as "Hi-Flyer Sehrawat," Pawan's journey from a passionate youngster to a star raider in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is an inspiring tale of dedication and talent.

Born in 1996 in New Delhi to an agricultural family, Pawan's initial focus was on studies, much to his mother's wish. However, his father, recognizing his son's burning passion for Kabaddi, became his biggest supporter. Pawan balanced his education at Government Boys Senior Secondary School and Delhi University with relentless pursuit of his dream. He actively participated in school nationals and the All India University Games, honing his skills and showcasing his talent.

A turning point came during the Northern Railways trials, where Pawan caught the eye of Randhir Singh. With Singh's backing, Pawan secured a job as a TT (Ticket Collector) in the Railways, leading him to prioritize his Kabaddi career over his education. While serving the Railways, Pawan's skills also shone through, representing the team in senior nationals.

Beyond the mat, Pawan is a cricket enthusiast, idolizing the versatile AB De Villiers. This admiration is reflected in his jersey number (17) - a tribute to De Villiers. Just like his idol, Pawan aspires to become a complete Kabaddi player, mastering both raiding and defending techniques.

However, it's his raiding skills that has earned him the moniker "Hi-Flyer." Pawan's playing style is characterized by incredible agility, raw strength, and lightning-fast decision-making. His quick movements, unexpected feints, and explosive bursts make him a nightmare for defenders.

Pawan's journey in the PKL began with the Bengaluru Bulls in season 3. He later moved to the Gujrat Fortune Giants and then back to the Bulls, each transfer reflecting his rising value. Pawan has also played for RS (Railway Sports Promotion Board) and NR (Northern Railway).

Currently associated with the Telugu Titans, Pawan's exceptional talent has made him a prized asset in the PKL auctions. From a bidding amount of Rs. 13.8 lakhs in season 5 to a record-breaking Rs. 2.605 crores in season 10, Pawan's price tag reflects his growing impact on the sport.

Throughout his PKL career, Pawan has consistently proven his worth. In over 126 matches, he has amassed a staggering 1189 raid points, averaging an impressive 9.44 points per match. With 34 Super Raids and 62 Super 10s under his belt, Pawan Sehrawat became a nightmare for the top-class defenders on the Kabaddi mat.

As Pawan Sehrawat celebrates another year, his journey is far from over. With his dedication, talent, and ever-evolving skillset, "Hi-Flyer Pawan Sehrawat" is poised to soar even higher in the world of Kabaddi.
