The Rise of Deepak Hooda: From village Kabaddi to political arena

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the first list of candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections on Wednesday. Former Indian Kabaddi player Deepak Hooda has been fielded with great enthusiasm. After Kabaddi, he will now look to make a name in the field of politics.

Who is Deepak Hooda?

Deepak Ram Niwas Hooda was a professional Indian Kabaddi player known for his excellent skills and strength on the field. Born on 10 April 1994 in Rohtak, Haryana, Deepak started playing Kabaddi at a young age. Deepak has taken over the captaincy of India's national Kabaddi team. He was part of the gold medal-winning Indian team at the 2016 South Asian Games. He has also participated in highly popular the Pro Kabaddi League.

Early Life of Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda was born into a farmer's family. His mother died when he was 4 years old. He started playing Kabaddi in his village in 2009. He was studying in the 12th class when his father Ram Niwas also said goodbye to the world in 2013. Being the sole earning member of the family, he had to leave his studies and became a temporary teacher. For the next two years, after completing his school job, he would go to other villages to practice Kabaddi. This helped him a lot in improving his game. After this, he did his graduation. In college, he got a chance to play in the All India University Tournament. In this tournament he won the gold medal and after that he once again left his studies to pursue a career in Kabaddi.

Deepak Hooda played Kabaddi for many franchises in the Pro Kabaddi League. These include Telugu Titans, Puneri Paltan and Jaipur Pink Panthers. He has participated in several international tournaments representing the Indian national Kabaddi team, including the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup, 2018 Asian Games, 2018 Dubai Kabaddi Masters and the 2016 and 2019 South Asian Games. He was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2020 after leading the Indian team to a gold medal in the 2019 South Asian Games.

Love Life of Deepak Hooda

On July 7, 2022, Deepak Hooda married Asian boxing champion and gold medalist Sweety Boora. Both of them had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party this year. Hooda's story is inspiring for the youth. He is a role model for aspiring Kabaddi players.
