Pro Kabaddi franchise UP Yoddha have been one of the frontrunners in encouraging young talent in the sport of Kabaddi since their inception in 2017. The team has managed to reach the playoffs in the last three seasons, the latest being in Pro Kabaddi 2019. It is noteworthy to mention that they were led by a 21-year old Nitesh Kumar in the last season, showing the kind of trust the franchise puts in their young talent.
To take that one step ahead, the franchise has started an academy where youngsters will be provided with top-notch facilities to train Kabaddi. The 'U.P Yoddha B.K. Kabaddi Academy' will focus on creating champions from the grassroots level and give them proper coaching. Situated in the outskirts of Meerut in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the academy has the capacity to accommodate and train up to 200 students. Not only that, the residential training facility also boasts of world-class training and practice infrastructure.
A running track, indoor practice mat, gym, hostel, and access to expert nutritionists are some of the noteworthy facilities available at the academy. It is situated near to academic institutions, which will allow the students to enroll as well.
Not long ago, Puneri Paltan also came up with an opportunity to train the young talent in the state of Maharashtra with a new venture called 'Yuva Paltan'. They aim to train and make a team of youngsters participate in local and national level tournaments, giving the youngsters an opportunity to showcase their talent. With such initiatives from the franchises of Pro Kabaddi, it sure looks like the future of Kabaddi would be seeing a lot of talent from grass root level coming in on the international stage and making a mark for themselves.
