Telugu Titans strategy and planning for PKL 11 auction

During Pro Kabaddi Season 10, despite having Pawan Sehrawat in their rank it was an underwhelming performance from the Telugu Titans. But now in the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11 they will look to perform well and lift the title for the first time.

In order to do so, Telugu Titans need to make a strong team in PKL 11. To achieve this plan successfully they need to buy new and talented players in the PKL 11 auction. So what should be their strategy in the PKL 11 auction?

Telugu Titans a franchisee of Veera Sports owned by Srinivas Sreeramaneni of Vaya Group and Mahesh Kolli of Greenko Group will look to retain their captain Pawan Sehrawat. Pawan’s individual performance was commendable in PKL 10, he amassed 202 raid points.

However, to retain ‘Hi-Flyer’ Telugu must pay a hefty amount of 2.605 crore rupees. This amount is more than half of the purse amount given to every franchise in the PKL auction, which is 5 crore rupees.

If the Hyderabad-based franchise chooses to retain Pawan then they have to build a team with the remaining amount which is nearly 2.5 crore rupees. And if they release Pawan then they will have the full amount of 5 crore, but, there would be a challenge to build a new team from scratch. The pool of a PKL squad must consist of at least 18 players and maximum of 25 players.

Meanwhile, the Titans have the option to retain other players as well but looking at their stats from the previous season, it doesn’t seem like they should be retained. However, Titans may consider retaining their raiders Prafull Zaware and Robin Choudhary. Titans bought Prafull as a New Young Player (NYP), whose salary is not disclosed, and Robin for 9 lakhs rupees.

Ahead of the PKL 11 auction, Telugu Titans must manage their purse to add some talented raiders to their squad. They will also look to buy some of the most fierce raiders in the PKL arena.

Telugu Titans might target these players in the PKL 11 auction-

  1. Maninder Singh (Raider)
  2. Pardeep Narwal (Raider)
  3. Siddharth Desai (Raider)
  4. Chandran Ranjit (Raider)
  5. V Ajith Kumar (Raider)
  6. Vishal Bhardwaj (Defender)
  7. Rann Singh (Defender)
  8. Surjeet Singh (Defender)
  9. Vikash Kandola (Raider)
  10.  Fazel Atrachali (Defender)

Note that the players listed here will only be available for the PKL 11 auction if they get released by their current teams.

The PKL 11 auction will be held on the 15th and 16th of August this year. Every franchise will look to create a strong team, and so will Telugu Titans.
