PKL Season 11: Captaincy changes in the spotlight as auction looms

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is all set to return for its 11th season, and with it comes the excitement of the player auction. Teams are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to acquire talented players and rising stars, with some also seeking a change in captaincy.

Out of the 12 teams participating in PKL Season 11, several are expected to retain their captains from the previous season, PKL 10. This includes the reigning champions, Puneri Paltan, who will once again be led by Aslam Inamdar. Haryana Steelers, the runners-up of PKL 10, will also stick with Jaideep Dahiya as their captain.

Jaipur Pink Panthers, who reached the semi-finals in PKL 10 under Sunil Kumar's captaincy, are likely to continue with him. Similarly, Gujarat Giants, who had Fazel Atrachali as their captain in PKL 10, are expected to retain him.

Patna Pirates, the most successful team in PKL history with three titles, will also maintain continuity with Sachin Tanwar as their captain. Bengal Warriors, despite finishing seventh in PKL 10, are likely to keep Maninder Singh as their captain.

While some teams are opting for stability, others may see a shift in captaincy. Dabang Delhi, who had Naveen Kumar as their captain initially in PKL 10 before he was replaced by Ashu Malik due to injury, could see Naveen return to the captaincy if he is fully fit for PKL 11.

Bengaluru Bulls, who finished eighth in PKL 10 under Saurabh Nandal's captaincy, may be looking for a fresh start with a new captain. Similarly, Tamil Thalaivas, who had Sagar Rathee as their captain in PKL 10, could also make a change in leadership.

U Mumba, who had a disappointing PKL 10 due to injuries to key players, may also consider a change in captaincy, with Surinder Singh currently at the helm.

The fate of Telugu Titans' captain, Pawan Sehrawat, also known as the "Hi-Flyer," hangs in the balance. Despite his impressive individual performance, the team's overall performance in PKL 10 was poor. With a hefty price tag of 2 crore 60 lakh 50 thousand, the team may decide to release him and look for a new captain.

UP Yoddhas may also opt for a change in captaincy. Their current captain, “Dubki King” Pardeep Narwal, had a strong individual performance, but the team's overall results were dismal. The Yoddhas may have to spend a significant amount to retain him, opening up the possibility of them seeking a new captain.

PKL Season 11 promises to be an exciting season with a mix of familiar faces and potential new leaders. The upcoming auction will be crucial for teams to shape their squads and determine their leadership strategies.
