PKL 10: Who Won Raider of the Season, Defender of the Season and Most Valuable Player in Pro Kabaddi Season 10?
Puneri Paltan emerged as the champions of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 after an intense battle against Haryana Steelers in the final on March 1 at GMC Balayogi Sports Complex, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The season was filled with thrilling moments and outstanding performances from players across the league.
Raider of the Season
Ashu Malik the captain of Dabang Delhi KC, who was initially overlooked, emerged as the top raider of the season. After Naveen Kumar's unfortunate injury, Ashu took on the responsibility of raiding for Delhi and excelled, scoring an impressive 276 raid points. He rightfully claimed the Raider of the Season award. Just to be noted Arjun Deshwal also scored the same number of raid points (276) as Ashu. But Ashu was awarded Raider of the Season based on Do-or-Die raid points scored by him is more than Arjun. Ashu scored 41 Do-or-Die raid points, whereas Arjun scored just 36 Do-or-Die raid points.
Defender of the Season
Mohammadreza Shadlou Chiyanneh continued to impress with his exceptional defensive skills. He established himself as one of the best defenders in PKL history. Chiyanneh's intimidating presence in the left corner posed a threat to every raider who faced him. He became the fastest player to reach 250 tackle points. He was awarded a well-deserved Defender of the Season award with a season-high 99 tackle points. This performance by Shadlou was the second-best by any defender in the single PKL season. The only defender ahead of him is Nitesh Kumar, who once scored 100 tackle points in a single season.
Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Puneri Paltan, wearing their orange jerseys, dominated PKL 10 with their consistent performance throughout the season. Their success can be largely attributed to the exceptional leadership of Aslam Inamdar, who stepped up as captain and filled the void left by Fazel Atrachali. Inamdar not only led the team in scoring raid points but also made significant contributions to the defence, earning him the well-deserved title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season. His fearless approach and strong partnership with Mohammadreza Chiyanneh will be remembered for years to come.
New Young Player Award
Another young player, Yogesh Dahiya, proved his coach's belief right. Playing as a right-corner defender for Dabang Delhi KC, Dahiya surpassed expectations and finished 3rd in the league with 74 tackle points. Despite being in his first PKL season, he showcased senior-level performance and was awarded the New Young Player of the Season.
Beyond the individual performances and the championship title, PKL 10 was also significant for the return of the caravan format. This allowed fans across the country to witness the electrifying sport of Kabaddi live. The players showcased exceptional talent in all aspects of the game, making PKL 10 a truly memorable season for both players and fans.
