BC Ramesh is one of the well-known personalities when it comes to Kabaddi sport. He has won several games both as a player and a coach. In his playing career, he has represented Karnataka and then India. While coaching, he has been a part of the Argentina Men's Kabaddi National Team as well. Here are his complete details right from the beginning of his career both as a player and then the coach, to where he is currently coaching.

There are several players who got into coaching right after their retirement. BC Ramesh is also one of them. The former Indian player has been coaching since 2015. When Pro Kabaddi League became into existence, several former Kabaddi players got into the management part of the franchises. Pro Kabaddi League has not only provided opportunities for the players but also for prominent coaches like BC Ramesh. Right from the early edition of the tournament, BC Ramesh became one of the most-wanted coaches because of his brilliant record.

Born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, BC Ramesh debuted for India in 1995. He represented the state senior team before making it to the Indian senior team. Soon, he became a regular in the play for the country for years. He has been a part of the team that went on to win the Asian Games. Also, BC Ramesh had represented India in multiple world cups.

 

His first big coaching stint was for the Karnataka men's Kabaddi team in the National Games. BC Ramesh helped his team to win a silver medal.

His brilliant record with Karnataka helped him to find a place as the coach of Argentina's men's Kabaddi Team. BC Ramesh even coached the Argentina team in the Men's Kabaddi World Cup.

In 2016, he left coaching for International teams as he got an opportunity in the Pro Kabaddi League.

He chose to coach Puneri Paltan in season 5 of the Pro Kabaddi League. In the next season, he moved from the Paltan team.

BC Ramesh was appointed as the assistant coach of Bengaluru Bulls in the season 6 Pro Kabaddi League. The team went on to lift the trophy in the same year. In the next season, he moved to Bengal to take up the coaching opportunity for the Bengal Warriors. BC Ramesh helped the team to lift the trophy in the season 7.

He got back to Puneri Paltan as the coach of the team for the second time in 2021 for the Pro Kabaddi League's 9th season. Since then, he has been the team's coach.

He helped the team to finish second in the points table. The team won 14 matches and lost 6 matches. They ended with 80 points from their 22 matches. Only Jaipur Pink Panthers had more points than them. The team made it to the semi-final directly as they finished second.

The team met Tamil Thalaivas in the semi-final of the tournament. It was a close game where the team went on to win by 39-37 in a thrilling contest. In the final, they met Jaipur Pink Panthers. The team fell just a few points short of winning the title. Jaipur Pink Panthers won by 33-29.

BC Ramesh has won several awards for his contribution to the sport. In 2001, he was awarded the Arjuna Award by the then-Government. He continues to be an inspiration for several players as well as coaches out there.

BC Ramesh will coach Puneri Paltan once again in 2023. The Karnataka coach has also opened an academy to train young players in his state. The BC Ramesh Kabaddi Academy is situated in Kanteerava Stadium, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, Bengaluru. The academy offers both Mat and Mud Kabaddi Practice apart from that there is also a running track for the players to practice.
