K7 Qualfiers Journey
In March 2021, K7 Qualifiers took place in Sonipat, a premier Kabaddi tournament for the U-21 age group in Haryana. Bhaini School Kabaddi Academy was one of the 16 academies that participated in the event. They featured in the tournament's opening day along with three other teams - Narwal Kabaddi and Sports Academy, Ch. Ram Swaroop Kabaddi Academy, and Parveen and Jasvir Kabaddi Academy.
Bhaini School, led by captain and lead raider Mohit Goyat, did incredibly well on the opening day of K7s Qualifiers. Mohit Goyat led his team well and contributed immensely to help Bhiani School qualify for the K7 Stage Up Tournament. Mohit finished the tournament strongly with the 3rd highest raid points. Interestingly, in each of the 3 matches, Bhaini School had 3 different defenders stepping up as their top defenders- Hardeep, Monu, and Baljeet Kumar.
Bhaini School went up against Ch. Ram Swaroop Kabaddi Academy in the opening encounter. This turned out to be one of the closest matches in the tournament. The match began with both teams going neck to neck. But, soon Ch. Ram Swaroop Kabaddi Academy took the lead to finish the 1st half with a 3 point lead. The 2nd half started with Bhaini School Kabaddi Academy coming back strongly but not quite enough as Ch. Ram Swaroop kept scoring points and extended their lead to 10 points. Now Bhaini School needed a miracle performance and that is exactly what happened. Mohit Goyat hit a purple patch and started scoring multiple points to reduce the lead. In the defense, it was Hardeep who finished as the top defender. In the end, Bhaini School pulled off a miraculous comeback to win the game with scores of 36-35.
Bhaini School's 2nd match was against Narwal Kabaddi and Sports Academy. Both teams went into this game with wins from their first game. The match began with both teams locking horns with each other. At the end of the first half, the scores read 25-23 in favor of Bhaini School. In the 2nd half, Narwal Academy did not get going as Bhaini School was all over them. Bhaini School went on to win the game with scores of 56-30. In the 2nd half Bhaini School scored a massive 31 points while giving away only 7 points. Mohit Goyat had a game to remember as he finished with 24 raid points. Monu, the left corner, scored a massive 11 tackle points to keep Narwal Kabaddi and Sports Academy out of play.
In the 3rd and final game, Bhaini School went head-on against Parveen and Jasvir Kabaddi Academy. Bhaini School came into this game with two wins and immense confidence. Parveen and Jasvir Kabaddi Academy had won and lost a game apiece before this game. Bhaini School started the game strongly and did not let Parveen and Jasvir Academy take the lead in the game. At the end of the first half, the scores read 20-16 in favor of Bhaini. In the 2nd half, Parveen and Jasvir fought well to stay in the game. The match went down to the wire. But Bhaini School held their nerve to win the game with a score difference of 2 points. Again it was Mohit Goyat, as the top raider for Bhaini. Baljeet Kumar finished the game with 6 tackle points to clinch top defender for the match and help Bhaini School win 3 out of 3 games to qualify to the K7 Stage-UP.
Bhaini School Kabaddi Academy dominated Day 1 of K7 qualifiers successfully making it to the next round- K7 Stage Up. K7 Stage Up will feature the 10 best teams from K7 Qualifiers fighting it out to earn their place in the K7 Finals. Bhaini School will go into the Stage Up tournaments as one of the favorites. They have Mohit leading the raid department. Another strong support raider there will do them good. Talking about defense, Bhaini had different defenders stepping in different games. Maybe a little bit of stability and consistency is what they will be looking for when they are building their squad for the K7 Stage Up tournament.
