How Patna Pirates is Playing in PKL Season 10, Check Complete Performance Analysis

Patna Pirates are the only team in the Pro Kabaddi League who have won the league title a record three times, and that too consecutively. No team in the league has been able to defend its PKL title apart from the Pirates, and they have done it not only once but twice in the Pro Kabaddi League.

The Pirates have had a fantastic start to season 10 of the PKL, as they have won both their opening fixtures and are placed second in the points with 10 points and a sensational score difference of +25. The Pirates will be playing their third match against the Bengal Warriors on December 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. IST.

The Patna-based franchise played their first game of the season against the Telugu Titans, led by Hi-Flyer Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. Patna dominated that match from the starting whistle and thrashed the Titans by 22 points with a scoreline of 50-28. No player on the Patna team went pointless in that match, as everyone contributed to the team’s victory.

Sachin was the team’s best raider, taking 14 raid points, followed by Manjeet (7 raid points) and Sandeep Kumar (3 raid points). All the defenders, starting with captain Neeraj Kumar (4 tackle points), Sajin Chandrasekar (3 tackle points), Krishan Dhull (2 points), and Ankit (5 tackle points), played brilliantly and contributed to the win.

In their second match of the season, the Patna Pirates faced the home team, the Gujarat Giants, who were coming off three consecutive victories. It was not an easy win at all, but Patna still managed to get the better of Gujarat and won the match 33-30, by three points.

In this match, the main raiders could not contribute much, as Sachin and Manjeet got only a total of six raid points among them. But Sandeep Kumar and Sudhakar M. stepped up, collecting four and six points, respectively, and helped the team stay alive in the match. The defenders, Neeraj Kumar and Ankit, got 4 tackle points each and completed the rest of the job as usual, making their team get another five points on the board.

The best raider for the Patna Pirates franchise so far this season has been Sachin Tanwar with 18 raid points, whereas Ankit has been the best defender so far with 9 tackle points. The main strength of the Pirates this year is that they have an excellent team with young, ambitious raiders and experienced defenders who know how to run the game. In both their initial matches, all the players have complemented each other really well and contributed to the team’s excellent performance.

For Patna to win their fourth PKL title, they would want one of the raiders to have a phenomenal season and the other raiders to also score points on a regular basis. The defense has played well till now with no advanced tackles, and this needs to be continuously done in order to reach anywhere near the trophy.
