Day 6 of Bangabandhu International Kabaddi Cup 2024 Witnessed Upsets and Dominant Wins

Bangabandhu International Kabaddi Cup 2024 stepped into the 6th day on Friday, May 31st, 2024, at Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The day handed out entertainment in the form of an upset victory, a nail-biting match, and two other very dominant victories making the competition all the more interesting.

Kenya vs Thailand

The first game of the day saw Kenya defeat Thailand 33-32 in what was a relatively close-knit match. This brought surprising victory because Thailand was most likely predicted to be the ultimate winner of the contest. The Kenyan raiders gave a good account of themselves in terms of speed and strength, giving the Thai’s defenders a raw deal by dodging their defensive lines while piling up point after point. Thailand gave their best efforts and though the score was close, they were unable to pull through before the final buzzer sounded. This victory without a doubt has strengthened the players’ morale as well as provided proof to Kenya that they could also compete with relatively stronger opponents in the subsequent tournaments.

Uganda vs Japan

The second encounter of the day was a closer one for the teams, with Uganda sneaking through 41-36 against Japan. In most parts of the game, the two teams showcased their aggressive raiding style. The Uganda raiders capitalize on the opportunities and converted them to effective raids and gained bonus points as well. The Japanese defence also played well and tried to defend but it was all in vain as they fell to a rampant Uganda team. But this victory is meaningless to Uganda because they cannot go any further into the competition and they are eliminated.

Bangladesh vs Nepal

For the third match held on the same day, Bangladesh showcased their power and defeated Nepal with a 46-31 score. The raiders of Bangladesh were in their best form as they were able to cross of Nepal's narrow defense line and get points. Their defense was equally as strong. They form a solid wall that Nepal raiders rarely broke through. Such a convincing win also placed Bangladesh’s team on a pedestal in the competition for the title championship.

Poland vs South Korea

The last match of the 6th day saw a victory for the Poland team that defeated South Korea with a score of 54-30. Poland’s raiders adopted a systematic approach that involves weaving past defenses and scoring points. Their defence was just as good; positioned effectively and countered South Korean raiders, thus denying them points. Even with a victorious match, Poland is on the way out of the Bangabandhu International Kabaddi Cup 2024.

As far as the group stage is concerned the Bangabandhu International Kabaddi Cup 2024 is gradually entering its decisive days, while players and teams are looking forward to the playoffs. The remaining matches will see fierce action and strategic battle among the teams as they vie for the ultimate glory.
