"And the action begins" Lets look at what all took place at Day 1 of Khelo Haryana tournament

Day 1 of the Khelo Haryana tournament  took place at Gurugram. The Guest of honor was Sunil Dabas (Dronacharya Awardee) and Mr. Ram Mehar Singh, Deputy Director Sports, Haryana (Arjuna Awardee), who inaugurated the tournament with their blessings.

All the teams came in with a point to prove with things slowly going back to normal after the current pandemic that stopped all the contact sports.

Both the girls and boys category took place simultaneously, in a knockout format.

Boys category 
 
Match 1 - The host Kicked off the proceedings with a thumping win over Sirsa, who could not handle the boys from Gurgram as they ran out winners, with a scoreline of 26 - 15.

Match 2 - Saw a more ruthless performance as Boys from Panipat walked past Ambala with a scoreline of 29 - 6.
 
Match 3 - was a bit even contest as Jind Overcame the boys from Bhiwani with 6 points to win the match. Jind 33 - 27 Bhiwani.

Match 4 - Kurukshetra was slightly better on the day than Faridabad as they withstood the early pressure to win by 13 points.  Faridabad 33 - 46 Kurukshetra .
 
Match 5 - Once again saw a one-sided game, Yamuna Nagar just could not stop the onslaught by Palwal Boys as they won by a margin of 25 points. Palwal 39 - 14 Yamuna Nagar.

Match 6 -  Mahendragarh came up way too short as Dadri took the game right from the start and ran out as winners. Dadri 34 - 15 Mahendragarh.

Match 7 - the last game of the day in the boys' category saw the biggest win as Sonipat Thrashed Panchkula by 29 points to storm into the next round. 

Girls Category 

Match 1 - The matches here were much more one-sided as Girls from Kaithal Hammered Sirsa by 37 points in the first game itself to make a bold start in the tournament.  Kaithal 41 - 4 Sirsa.

Match 2 - The host Gurugram also started out with a bang, as they won by 40 points against Yamuna Nagar. Gurugram 40 - 8 Yamuna Nagar.

Match 3 - Fatehabad girls continued the trend with a convincing win over Ambala. Ambala 13 - 42 Fatehabad.

Match 4 - Kurukshetra dominated in both boys and girls category as they won her by 14 points to head on to the next round. Kurukshetra
32 - 18 Mahendragarh.

Match 5 - Looked like to be an equal contest at the start but girls from Karnal took the game by the jaws and won by 10 points over the team from Rohtak. Karnal 38 - 28 Rohtak.

Match 6 - Panipat Girls team matched their boy's counterpart as they thrashed Panchkula with a win margin of 31 points. Panipat 37 - 6 Panchkula.

Match 7 - Palwal seemed to be out of place as they lost against Dadri by a heavy margin. Dadri 24  6 Palwal.

Match 8 - was the pick of the games out of both the categories.
This game saw a battle write down to the wire. Hisar girls who were behind by 9 points came back strongly in the last 5 mins to tie right at the end with the game moving on to the super raid rounds.
each team here was given 7 raids to win the game for their team. Both teams matched each other yet again till the last raid took place as Hisar was able to hold their nerves and won the game by a single point over Jind. Hisar 27 - 26 Jind.   

The audience was so moved by the game that some ex-players and IPS officers even announced and gave out small cash prizes to the participants of both teams.

Match 9 - saw Kurukshetra win their 2nd game of the day with a comfortable scoreline of 30 - 16 against team Faridabad. 

Day 1 saw round 1 and 2 done and dusted with pre-quarters and quarters to look forward to, at Day 2 of Khelo Haryana tournament..
