Adda Talks- Steeler on the Mat Ep 6- With Haryana Steelers raider Vikash Kandola
Haryana Steelers have been inconsistent in the tournament so far. Haryana Steelers' raider Vikash Kandola talked about his association with the team, coping up with the bio-bubble, K7 star Meetu's performance and playing alongwith Rohit Gulia.
It's been a mixed campaign so far from Haryana Steelers. The team started off their campaign with a couple of losses. The team has not quite managed to show consistency in the league, currently placed at 10th position in the league. But the team had its moments, winning the games against Telugu Titans, Gujarat Giants and Bengal Warriors, and the team would be hoping to show this kind of display later in this tournament.
In our exclusive conversation with their raider Vikash Kandola, the player spoke about his association with the team, and playing under JSW Sports. "It feels really good playing under them, as they understand sports really well. I have been associated with Haryana Steelers for 4 years now, and it has been a great experience", he said.
"The team management always backs the players and gives them the opportunity to play. There's no pressure on the players to deliver for the team"
Vikash also heaped praises on the facilities that are available at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS). " Such facilities are not available anywhere in the country. They have a great bunch of physios and trainers. The way they cover all types of games for all the age groups is great thing to see. I've been to the institute a few times for my rehab, and it has helped me a lot in the phase of recovering from injuries".
When asked about how the players are coping up with the bio-bubble, Vikash said "The tournament has been conducted really well till now, there's nothing to worry for us. In fact, we are enjoying in the bubble, as it ensures that we don't have to travel a lot. It saves a lot of time for us, as we get the much-required rest after the game.
Talking about Haryana's run in the Pro Kabaddi League, Vikash stressed on the importance of winning the game, and playing according to the situation. "If you look at the game against UP Yoddhas, it was important for us to get those points, and the coach had instructed to get all the 3 players out to make a comeback in the game"
The raider also credited the K7 Kabaddi League for coming up with talented youngsters like Meetu in the league.
"Meetu is a good raider, and has been performing really well for considering this is his debut season. It's not easy to consistently perform like this in your first season. He possesses all the required skills like Running hand touch, Dubki and has a great future ahead"
On playing alongside Rohit Gulia, who is also a fellow player of the Railways' Kabaddi Team, Vikash thinks that the player is quite a valuable player for the team. "It feels good to have him in the side as we do know each other really well. We have been representing Railways at the Nationals.
