Born on 10th August 1990 in the sports-rich state of Haryana, Surjeet hails from the village of Kathura in Sonipat district. From a young age, kabaddi coursed through Surjeet's veins, becoming the heartbeat of his family and village. Encouraged by his school's sports coach, Surjeet embraced the sport wholeheartedly, immersing himself in inter-school kabaddi matches, where he showcased his burgeoning talent.
With each match, Surjeet's skills blossomed, and he continued to represent his school with unwavering determination, ascending through the ranks to compete at the district level. Throughout his journey, Surjeet was met with unwavering support from his loved ones, who recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in the sport he loved.
The pinnacle of his early success arrived when he emerged victorious in the state championship, fueling his motivation and desire to excel. Under the guidance of his mentor, Coach Jeet Singh, Surjeet honed his skills in his village, pushing himself beyond limits and sharpening his abilities.
He honed his skills while representing Services, a renowned team in the national circuit. Surjeet's dedication and talent propelled him to be a key player for the team at the 67th Senior National Kabaddi Championships held in Jaipur.
His dedication and relentless training did not go unnoticed, as in 2016, Surjeet's remarkable performances on the international stage earned him a spot in the prestigious Pro Kabaddi League.
Surjeet Singh is a formidable defender known for his outstanding "dash" move, which effectively throws raiders out of the mat. His impeccable timing, strength, and agility make him a challenging opponent to conquer. As a right cover defender, Surjeet showcases immense resilience and determination while thwarting the raiders' attempts. His ability to read the game and make crucial tackles has made him an indispensable asset for any team.
Surjeet made his debut in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) in Season 3 as a member of the Puneri Paltan. He later played for U Mumba in Season 4 and Bengal Warriors in Season 5, where he commanded a staggering price of Rs. 73 lakhs, establishing himself as one of the most expensive players in the league.
In PKL season 7 Surjeet was again bought by Puneri Paltan, but in season 8 Tamil Thalaivas placed a bid on him. And in PKL season 9 he went on to represent Telugu Titans. He has also played for SS(Services Sports Control Board).
In the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9, Surjeet Singh represented the Telugu Titans, showcasing his prowess as a defender for the team.
Surjeet Singh's exceptional performances and reputation as a top defender have garnered significant financial rewards. In the Pro Kabaddi League Season 6, he was retained by the Bengal Warriors for his commanding skills at a retention price of Rs. 73 lakhs. Furthermore, in the Pro Kabaddi 2019 Auctions, Surjeet attracted a bidding war among teams like Patna Pirates, UP Yoddha, and Puneri Paltan. Ultimately, he was bought by the Pune-based franchise, Puneri Paltan, for an impressive sum of Rs. 56 lakhs.
In PKL season 9, Telugu Titans acquired the services of Surjeet Singh with an impressive amount of Rs 50 Lakhs.
