The Kabaddi action at the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 has reached the penultimate stage with the semifinals taking place on Sunday. The league stages ended on Saturday with each team playing three matches each. The mats at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education complex in Sonapur, Assam are all set for the semifinals action.

The teams of Haryana remained unbeaten in all the four categories. Their teams of Boys U-17, Girls U-17, Boys U-21 and Girls U-21 all have qualified for the semifinals.

Boys Under-17 team of Haryana defeated the hosts Assam 63-18 in the very first match of the KIYG 2020. In the next match against Maharashtra, the Haryana boys won 44-16, and finished the pool matches with a 39-26 win against Chhattisgarh. They are joined by Maharashtra team who won two of their league matches. They defeated Chhattisgarh and Assam in group stage.

From Group B, Rajasthan were the unbeaten team as they went past Karnataka, Bihar and Delhi in convincing victories. Bihar won two of their three matches to be the fourth team to qualify for the semifinals from Boys U-17 category. The semifinals will see Haryana take on Bihar, while Rajasthan will face Maharashtra.

The Girls' Under-17 has Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar as the four semifinalists. Haryana were the table toppers with three wins from three group matches. Bihar is the second team to qualify from Group A with two wins from three games. In Group B, Tamil Nadu team won all their three matches, with Chhattisgarh winning one and their second encounter ending in a tie. Their only loss came against Tamil Nadu.

In the boy's under-21 category, Haryana showed their dominance as they won all of their three matches in the Group B to qualify for the final four. They won their first match against Uttar Pradesh 51-36 on Thursday. This win was followed with a 42-26 victory over Tamil Nadu in the next match, and a 64-25 win against Telangana in the third and the final group match. They qualified for the semis as the table toppers in the group. They are joined by Uttar Pradesh, who defeated Tamil Nadu and Telangana in the group stage.

Group B will see Maharashtra team moving to the semis with their three wins against Gujarat, Assam and Chandigarh. The other team to qualify for the semis from the group is Chandigarh with two wins in three matches.

It was once again an impressive performance from Haryana team in the Girls U-21 category as they won all three group matches. They went on to defeat Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan in Group B encounters. Chhattisgarh won two of their matches to become the second team to qualify for the semis. They will be joined by Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the final four. Himachal have remained unbeaten in the group.
