The Indian men's kabaddi team registered a massive victory over their arch-rivals Pakistan in their second match of the South Asian Games 2019. The Deepak Hooda led team won the match 49-22 to continue to be on the top of the points table and consolidate their place for the finals.
India put an all round performance against Pakistan as the defending champions entered the mat with the same team as they did against Sri Lanka. The Indian attack was on the front foot from the start against experienced defenders of Pakistan. Pawan Sehrawat damaged the defense led by Pakistani skipper Nasir Ali, supported by Naveen Kumar who kept on raking points for the team.
The Indian corners Nitesh Kumar and Vishal Bhardwaj kept the Pakistani raiders at bay as they inflicted two all outs in the first half. India had a comfortable lead of 29-9 as the first 20 minutes of the match ended.
The secoond half saw a similar story as the Indian defense kept dominating Pakistani raiders. Deepak Hooda also joined the party in the second half to assist Pawan and Naveen in winning raid points for the Indian team. Pakistan made a few attempts to make a come back in the game, trying to close on to the Indian score. However, the attempts were put to an end as India inflicted their fourth all-out in the last five minutes of the game, registering a 27 point win over Pakistan.
India have won both their preliminary matches and will be up against Bangladesh on 7th December at 9:00 AM.
Earlier today, Sri Lanka defeated home team Nepal 34-22 to strengthen the position in the points table. They have won two of their three matches and sit atop of the South Asian Games Kabaddi Points Table.
