Gujarat Fortune Giants misfortune continued in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 7 as they went down to Haryana Steelers in Delhi on Wednesday. Sunil Kumar & Co. lost to better side Haryana 25-41. This was seventh loss in 11 games for Manpreet Singh’s boys.
It was an interesting start to proceedings, earlier in the evening. Gujarat Fortune Giants conceded two points before Giants’ Iranian raider Abolfazl Maghsodloumahali equalized with two raid points. But as the match progressed, Haryana took the control on the mat.
In-form Haryana raider Vikas Kandola, in particular, did maximum damage to the Giants’ camp. He wrecked Gujarat defence by getting Sunil and Parvesh Bhainswal. With two main players on the bench, Haryana raiders Prashant Kumar Rai and Kandola got a free hand.
In the 14th minute of the first half, Gujarat conceded first of their three all-outs of the evening. It was a do-or-die raid and Gujarat had a chance of super tackle. However, Kandola with his swift move scored a super-raid and applied breaks on Gujarat’s progress, putting Haryana ahead 15-10.
Giants’ all-rounder Rohit Gulia kept the score moving with bonus points but his effort wasn’t enough as at the half time whistle the scoreboard read 20-11 in favour of Haryana.
Two-time finalists, Gujarat responded well in the second half. They scored two super tackles, tackling Kandola twice. Moreover, seasoned all-rounder Vinod Kumar came from the bench to revive Gujarat’s hopes with three raid points but it was too late as Haryana recorded a win and in the process went on the top of the table.
