Deepak Narwal was born on 3rd November 1995 to Jagdish Narwal in Sonepat, Haryana. Jagdish Narwal had already represented India at the Asian Games and went on to coach some of the current crop of players from Haryana. Deepak was encouraged and inspired by his father and started playing Kabaddi from an early age. Little did everyone know, he would become one of the big players in the Indian Kabaddi.
He debuted in the PKL in Season 2 playing for Patna Pirates. He was the highest scorer for Patna with 57 points that season. He continued playing for Patna in Season 3 under captain Manpreet Singh (now coach of Gujarat Fortunegiants) and helped them win the title against U Mumba with a last-minute raid which capped off his performances in Season 3. In Season 4, he was bought by Dabang Delhi at the auctions. He couldn’t replicate his Season 3 form for Delhi and could only bring in 13 points from 6 matches in Season 4. He was bought by Bengal Warriors for Season 5 to complement Jang Kun Lee and Maninder Singh and he did an exceptional job with quick raids (which includes a multi-point raid in 10 seconds) and brought in 87 points from 16 matches with 4 super 10’s complementing Maninder Singh well. In Season 6, he went back to Patna Pirates who wanted to replace Monu Goyat with an able support raider. For Season 7, he was bought by Jaipur Pink Panthers for 30.5 lakhs. He is a raider with great potential who can indeed live up to his father’s expectations if given the right guidance.
Deepak is excellent with his running hand touch and complements his raiding with great support defense for the team. He is extremely agile and has a strong physique. He relies on his precision and speed to effectively get raid points. He has conducted many successful short raids (under 12 seconds) while playing for Bengal Warriors and Patna Pirates.
